my travel bucket list

Although I have visited some fantastic countries already, I have a number of incredible experiences that I hope to undertake at some point. There aren’t many countries that I don’t want to visit, but below are some of my bucket list travels.

1. Scandinavian Travels

Despite being fairly easy to get to from my home city of Manchester, I haven’t yet managed to visit any of the gorgeous Scandinavian countries. The first visit on my bucket list is definitely to travel between Copenhagen, Malmö, Gothenburg and Oslo, either on a road trip or by utilising the network of public transport between them.

2. See the Northern Lights

A common bucket list experience is to see the Northern Lights, and again something that the Northern territories of the Scandinavian countries best offer. Some of the best places are Kakslauttanen in Finland, Abisko in Sweden, and my absolute bucket list dream; Tromsø in Norway.

3. San Francisco > Los Angeles > Las Vegas Road Trip

Another road trip on my bucket list is to drive between the three famous American cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Surrounded by incredible landmarks and attractions such as Yosemite National Park, Death Valley. Long Beach, Hollywood, Alcatraz and the Grand Canyon, the route certainly packs in some once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

4. Thailand Island Hopping

South-East Asia, and Thailand in particular, are high on my travel list. For a true bucket list experience, island-hopping around Thailand offers an insight into the amazing culture and nature of this beautiful continent. Top picks along the way include Phuket, Phi Phi Islands, Koh SamuiKoh Yao Yai, and plenty more.

5. Day of the Dead Festival in Mexico City

The Day of the Dead festival (Día de los Muertos) is an annual tradition in Mexico in celebration of lost loved ones. The parade in Mexico City, only recently launched, is an explosion of colour, celebrations and dancing in the streets. I have a soft spot for Latin culture and the Spanish language, and what better way to start to explore South America than by being immersed in this tradition festival.

6. South African Safari

Being an animal lover, any ethical ways of seeing some of the earth’s greatest is going to be high on my bucket list. A Safari in South Africa, with an opportunity to see the likes of elephants, lions, giraffes and more, along with the incredible landscapes, would be a perfect trip. Not to mention chance to explore South Africa and visit the famous Cape Town and National Parks would be amazing.

7. Hong Kong and Tokyo

The mega-cities of Hong Kong and Tokyo draw their fair share of tourism, but certainly look to offer an incredible experience. With a population exceeding 16 million between the two cities, there is plenty to explore. With just a four-hour flight in between them, it makes sense join them into a single (if not incredibly busy) trip.

8. Eastern European Road Trip

Eastern Europe is ideally located from my hometown of Manchester in the UK, and easy enough to be able to road-trip through several different amazing countries. There are too many amazing places to mention, but some of my ideal locations include Łódź in Poland, Bratislava in Slovakia, Budapest in Hungary, Triglav National Park in Slovenia, Zagreb in Croatia, Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Varna in Bulgaria, and Bucharest in Romania.
